If you want to compare the adaptation with the manga, going back to Chapter 69 is worthwhile because the finale covers Chapters 69, 70 and 71. But for a straight continuation, there is no need to rewind much further. Chapter 72 is the cleanest starting point.
What manga chapter does Dandadan Season 2 end on?
Episode 24, “Clash! Space Kaiju vs. Giant Robot!”, reaches the same essential stopping point as Chapter 71. The Space Kaiju fight peaks with the Nanoskin-built giant robot, Okarun and Jiji are ejected from the battle, and the group discovers that the creature was hiding something much stranger than an ordinary monster.
Then comes the hook that sends so many anime viewers straight to the manga: the girl inside the suit kisses Okarun while Momo watches. The season ends at the exact moment a new character enters the group dynamic and turns a victory over the kaiju into a completely different problem.
It is a great TV cliffhanger, but it is not a clean break between stories. Season 2 stops in the middle of Vamola's arrival. That is why Chapter 72 feels less like the opening of a new arc and more like the next page of the same scene.
Should you start at Chapter 72 or go back a little?
For pure story continuation, start with Chapter 72. It carries on with Okarun, Momo and the newly arrived girl without requiring any major recap. The mapping is straightforward: the final episode adapts Chapters 69 through 71, and Chapter 72 follows them directly.
Starting at Chapter 69 makes sense if you want to compare pacing. The giant-robot battle is the kind of sequence that changes significantly when music, motion and comedic timing are added. Reading the last three adapted chapters lets you see what the anime compressed, accelerated or turned into a bigger spectacle.
You do not need to restart the manga from Chapter 1 just because you are worried about missing essential plot information. The adaptation has pacing changes and smaller differences, but it preserves the main line of events needed to understand Chapter 72.
What happens immediately after the anime?
Chapter 72 first deals with the obvious question left by the finale: who is the girl who kissed Okarun, and what did that kiss mean to her? Communication with her is messy, and it quickly becomes clear that Momo is reading the gesture through assumptions that do not necessarily match the newcomer's intentions. Vamola stops being just a romantic punch line and starts connecting to the larger alien storyline.
Chapter 73 continues the transition and sorts through the aftermath of the kaiju fight. The group has gained a new presence, but they still do not understand where she came from, why she was inside that suit, or how much they can trust her. The manga does not stay in that holding pattern for long.
By Chapter 74, Momo is taking Vamola to school when Reiko Kashima enters the story, opening a supernatural threat alongside the growing alien plot. That matters because Dandadan does not simply abandon yokai once its extraterrestrial conflict gets bigger. It makes the two sides collide.
The next arc makes Dandadan much bigger
Vamola's arrival initially looks like another complication for Momo and Okarun's relationship. She is also the bridge toward the Space Globalists arc, where the alien threat stops feeling like a string of isolated encounters and becomes something far more organized and dangerous.
The fun part is that the series refuses to discard its smaller problems. Jealousy, promises, missing objects and personal arguments remain active while the scale of the danger expands. That contrast keeps the story recognizably Dandadan even when the conflict gets much larger.
Chapter 74 does not announce itself with a grand “new arc begins here” moment either. It starts with an ordinary trip to school and quickly puts Momo and Vamola in front of a threat that follows completely different rules from the kaiju. The jump from mundane comedy to supernatural danger is exactly the kind of switch the series handles best.
Will Season 3 continue from this exact point?
Dandadan Season 3 is officially scheduled to broadcast in 2027. The teaser visual prominently features the new girl, which fits the story position left by Season 2. What has not been officially confirmed is exactly how many manga chapters the new season will cover.
It is reasonable to expect the anime to resume with Vamola and the material immediately following Chapter 71, but it would be premature to claim a specific endpoint. The next major arc is large enough that adaptation pace will make a real difference.
If you would rather wait for the anime, the important part is settled: the continuation is coming. If you want an answer to the cliffhanger now, the manga provides an unusually smooth handoff because Chapter 72 resumes the situation almost immediately.

Shueisha publishes Dandadan digitally through MANGA Plus, with chapter access depending on the app, region and current reading rules. In supported English-language markets, VIZ also carries Dandadan through its Shonen Jump service.
In collected editions, Season 2's stopping point falls in Volume 9. For the direct continuation, look for Chapter 72; Volume 10 has already moved into Vamola's school life and the encounter with the slit-mouthed woman.
So the handoff is simple: Episode 24 → Chapter 71; continue with → Chapter 72. The anime stopped at the precise moment when its new character was about to become much more than a romantic cliffhanger—and the manga wastes almost no time proving it.
